As hospitals face a shortage of personal
protective equipment amid the coronavirus outbreak, Apple announced it is aiming to design and produce 1 million face shields per week for
medical workers. CEO Tim Cook said the masks can be assembled in two
minutes and that the company’s first shipment was to Kaiser hospital
facilities in the Santa Clara Valley this past week. Cook also said that
Apple has donated 20 million N95 masks to organizations that need them.
Cook said the face shield concept of Apple can be packed into a box 100, and can be assembled in two minutes..
