Apple Will Produce 1Million Face Shields Per Week For Medical Workers

As hospitals face a shortage of personal protective equipment amid the coronavirus outbreak, Apple announced it is aiming to design and produce 1 million face shields per week for medical workers. CEO Tim Cook said the masks can be assembled in two minutes and that the company’s first shipment was to Kaiser hospital facilities in the Santa Clara Valley this past week. Apple has also donated 20 million N95 masks to organizations in need, according to Cook.
Cook said the face shield concept of Apple can be packed into a box of 100 and can be assembled in two minutes.

During the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, doctors across the country have said that a lack of personal protective equipment, such as face shields and masks, puts them at risk.
