WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, has just announced that it will be rolling out a voice message transcription feature for iOS users. WhatsApp said this update will allow people to read WhatsApp voice messages as text on WhatsApp’s iPhone app, so they can easily understand what someone is trying to communicate.

This update should be available soon for all users who have WhatsApp versions 2.18.189 or higher running on their iPhone devices.

Now you won’t have to worry about struggling with voice notes in the future as WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will help transcribe your speech so that it can be more easily understood. Reported WABetaInfo

The feature is currently being developed for iOS users only.

As per reports, the transcription through this feature will be done entirely on your device so that WhatsApp and Facebook cannot access them.

As per a screenshot shared by the publication, when using this feature for the first time WhatsApp will ask if you want to use speech recognition on your device.

The speech data will reportedly be sent from this app to Apple for processing your requests. After allowing WhatsApp access, users can use the transcription service with a new “Transcript” section that has been added on top where they are also given easy access among other timestamps so you don’t have an excuse of missing anything important!

WABetaInfo says that “when a message is transcripted for the first time, its transcription is saved locally in the WhatsApp database, so it won’t be needed to transcript it again if you want to see its transcription later.”
